My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult
Anna is a thirteen years old and has applied to be medically emancipated from her parents. Her older sister is sick with leukemia. Anna's parents are counting on Anna to donate a kidney to her sister. If her sister does not have a transplant, it is possible she will die. Should Anna be forced to donate a kidney?
Little Chicago
This book I have read as actually become one of my favorites. It is called Little Chicago. Little Chicago was very interesting! It is about an 11 year old boy who is not the most fortunate boy in the world, he is just a small town guy. He wants to be more like his sister. His sister is not the best role model. She takes drugs, has illegal wapons, and Blacky (the boy) isn't doing to well. He is getting bad grades, starts to steal things from people, and misbehaves. This book is just the book to read because it can teach you how some things are bad and that it's really had to get under pure pressure. This is a great book for middle school age kids. So if you are looking for a book, Little Chicago is a great book to pick.
Slumming by Kristen D. Randle
Slumming focuses on three highschool seniors, Alicia, Sam, and Niki, and their attempt to see the deeper side of some of their classmates. The three come up with an idea to each pick one person whom they feel has more to them than a stereotype reputation, get to know them, and then take them to prom. As the story progresses Sam, Nikki, and Alicia realize that in life not everything is how it seems on the outside and as they get to know the people they chose they each learn something about themself which turns their perspective on life upsidedown.
Godless by Pete Hautman
Four teens decide to create their own religion. In this religion, the local water tower is the god. As time goes by, one of the members becomes obsessed with the tower.
Vegan Virgin Valentine by Carolyn Mackler
Mara Valentine is perfect. She gets along with her parents, teachers love her, and she has straight A's. When her niece, who is almost the same age as her, comes to live with the family, Mara's life is turned upside down. Her niece, V, is not perfect. She smokes, talks back, and chases boys. Mara needs to figure out a way to not let V ruin her life while also dealing with boys
Dreamland by Sarah Dessen
First, let me say that Sarah Dessen is my favorite author. She is able to capture the essence of a teeanger! The emotions that her teen characters display are very realistic.
The main character of Dreamland is Caitlin. Her sister has recently up and left the family . Caitlin is left to deal with her parents alone. Which is hard when your mother needs something to keep her busy, ie. her daughters. Caitlin meets a young man that is able to block out the home life from her family. At first things go well. Caitlin is happy but then things turn ugly when her boyfriend hits her.
tell it to naomi by daniel ehrenhaft this book is about a teenager who decides to write an advice column in the local newspaper. his sister has just finished college, majoring in journalism. they decide to pretend that she is writing the advice column. he becomes obsessed with writing replies and giving advice. when the column becomes popular, he becomes upset he is not getting any credit.
Speak is a book by Laurie Anderson. In this book, a freshman girl does not speak to anyone. Nobody knows why she does not talk and people tend to stay away from her. At the end, you find out out why she does not talk. The ending of this book is very emotional.
Wrecked by E. R. Frank
How would you feel if you killed someone? Even if it was on accident? How would you feel if the person you killed was your brother's perfect girlfriend. That's what happened to Anna when she was driving home from a kegger. She must come to terms with the accidental death she has caused.
Prom by Laurie Anderson
I would not recommend this book. Laurie Anderson is usually a phenomenal writer. She was unable to capture emotion or feeling in this book.

Young Adult
Anna is your average girl. That is, until she gets into a car accident and kills her brother's girlfriend. This sets off an emotionally draining journey in which everyone effected deals with their suffering. Anna must handle her repressive father, therapy sessions, her fears of driving, and getting her brother to open up.
Frank's characters are realisticly flawed and have real-life problems. Flashbacks acquiant readers with Anna and her brother Jack before the accident. Wrecked is a captivating psychological drama that will have you hooked till the end.
The V club by Kate Brian
When a new scholarship is announced, a group of friends all decide to apply. The strange things about the scholarship is that all applicants must be "pure." The students all need the scholarship money and begin to wonder what it means to be "pure."
i am the wallpaper by Mark Peter Hughes
I was suprised to see that a boy wrote this book. He captures the feelings and emotions of the female character in this book. Floey is the young child of two. Her old sister is, of course, perfect. Floey must deal with family, friends, and boys. She keeps a journal which gets stolen and published on the web. She begins to realize that she may be that star she always wanted to be.
The Red Kayak
by Priscilla Cummings
This is not a 4 star book instead it is a 2-3 1/2 star book. This book is about a boy who's neighbor died in a kayaking accident and how he tries to deal with the grief from trying to save the neighbor.
Keeping You a Secret by Julie Anne Peters
Holland has good grades, involved in school, and has a great boyfriend. But something is missing. When she meets Cece, Holland finds that Cece makes Holland whole. Holland had never considered herself to be gay but realizes that she is. This is her story about accepting herself and fighting society (and family) for acceptance.
When Jeff Comes Home by Catherine Atkins
Jeff was kidnapped at a young age. When he turns 16, his kidnapper decides to let him to return to his family. His family and friends have changed, and he has also. They all most deal with what has happened to Jeff and find a way to heal.
