Rebecca is a fantastic book! The suspense is "on the edge".
"To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee
This is my all-time favorite book. It is the story of a family in Alabama during the , a time where racial prejudice, especially in the South, was harsh. Atticus Finch, the father of Scout and Jem, is a lawyer who is defending a black man who is being unfairly accused of a crime. The starnge occurrence of a white man defending a black man causes a stir in the town and the entire family must deal with the results. There is also a local mysterious character who is mentioned early in the book and has a sgnificant role in the climax of the novel. This is one of the most beautiful stories ever.
I think all the Harry Potter books are classics. These books, i swear, you can never stop reading them. They may be long, but that's the best part. J.K Rowling is an amazing author. She is defintley one of my role models. Her creativity and imagination bring this book to life. I love everything about Harry Potter. And I can not wait for the next book to come out. (Not till next year though.=[) If you haven't read these amazing books, I suggest you get started.
A Study in Scarlet by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
A Study in Scarlet is one of the little-known Sherlock Holmes books, which is a shame because it's the very first. This book was pretty good, though it was more like two books. The first half of the book is written from Watson's perspective, starting with his meeting of the odd Holmes, his new roommate, and ending with the solution of a mystery. The second half of the book is the story behind the crime, almost completely unconnected with Holmes. The way Doyle wrote this book is ingenious, showing the same story from two totally different perspectives, giving the full story. The second half of the book may be a real bore, but it's worth it to see how everything ties together (you just have to get past the first chapter or two of part II)
The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom
Adult Fiction
Okay, so maybe it's not a classic yet, but I bet it will be considered one in the future. Mitch Albom craftfully tells the story of Eddie, the head of maintenance at Ruby Pier. He starts the story at Eddie's death, in which a ride breaks down and Eddie attempts to save a child. From there, Eddie goes to heaven and encounters five people from his life on Earth who teach him the true meaning and value of his life and how he touched so many others'. This is a touching and thought-provoking take on the afterlife that is as bittersweet as it is heartwarming.
Pride and Prejudice
Bridge to Terabithia
by Katherine Paterson
This book was pretty good, but it had a bad ending. I hope the movie is better.
