* It's all happening at the Library!

Sign-up starts January 30 for most of our winter and spring programs, including lapsit (for children under 3, with caregiver) and story hour (for older preschoolers). Many programs are listed in our Winter/Spring 2006 brochure and/or our online events calendar. In-person registration starts when we open at 8:30 Monday morning; telephone sign-ups will be accepted beginning at noon for sessions which still have openings.

We also have a number of special, month-long events in February, which is Library Lovers Month:

  • We're holding a Library Lovers Raffle, with a drawing for $25 gift certificate for Harrison's Pub -- courtesy of Harrison's -- every week through the end of February. Any visitor to the Library may enter at the front desk (limit of 1 entry per day, per family).
  • Our Super S.T.A.R. Winter Reading Club for students in kindergarten through 8th Grade runs for the entire month of February. Registration starts on February 1, and prizes include savings bonds and gift baskets. Students may also enter a bookmark design contest February 6-17. See our Super S.T.A.R. flier for more information about the winter reading club or bookmark contest.
  • For teenagers, we're cosponsoring a "Get Caught Reading" photography contest with the Des Plaines Valley Public Library District (Lockport Library). This contest is open to students in 9th through 12th grade who live in the two libraries' service areas. To enter, use your digital or film camera to catch someone reading and give us your photo with the contest entry form and required release forms. Two winners from each library will be selected by our volunteer judges. Each winner will receive a $50 gift card for Borders and have his or her winning photo featured on a library poster. Entries will be accepted from February 1 through February 28. See the photo contest rules for details.
