We're closed on Monday, September 4, for the
Labor Day holiday.
Even when we're not open, you can still use
our catalog and other
online resources, and you can even get help from a librarian through
AskAway 24/7 reference service.
After Labor Day, our Sunday hours resume. Beginning September 10, we'll be open on Sundays from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

We're now making family passes to
Brookfield Zoo available on loan. The
Family Play Zoo Pack pass may be used for admission to the zoo (including the Hamill Family Play Zoo) for up to 8 people, and for free parking for 1 or 2 vehicles.
Anyone who is at least 18 years old and has a valid
Homer Township library card may borrow a zoo pass (1 per family) for 3 days. Passes are lent out on a first-come, first served basis, and they may not be reserved or renewed.
Hyenas will be unleashed on anybody who doesn't return a zoo pass on time. (Okay, that won't happen, but the overdue fines are pretty steep.)
Passes may be borrowed and returned only at the Library building; they're not available on the Bookmobile. For more information, call us at 708-301-7908.

We've been making some additions and improvements to the Library's website this summer ...
- There are new Teen Pages, with links to useful/fun/interesting sites and spaces for teens to write book reviews and for us to announce teen events. Our teen site was put together with the help of some of folks who worked as volunteer interns this summer, the Webbies.
- On our homepage, we've added links to lists of new books and CDs in our catalog. We've also added local news headlines from Google News Search. (If you use a feed reader, such as My Yahoo or Bloglines, you can subscribe to these news headlines, any of our weblogs, and a weekly calendar of Library events from our homepage.)
- We're now using a service called CalendarHub for our events calendar, and there's a list of upcoming events in a sidebar on our homepage. Fall and early winter programs will be added to the calendar very soon; registration for story times and most other classes and programs begins on Monday, September 11.
- We've set up an account on the picture-sharing site Flickr to show photos of Library happenings. Our latest pictures are from the Bookmobile's recent Crazy Hat Days.
- Just in time for the school year, Gale General Reference Center Gold has been added to our collection of Find It Online resources. General Reference Center is an archive of articles from thousands of magazines and scholarly journals, available anywhere to anyone with a Homer Library card.
- Beginning with the June 26 meeting, the minutes of Library Board meetings are being put online after being approved by the Board.
- Finally, visitors to our website may now submit comments about items posted on our News & Announcements page. (Comments are added to the site only after being reviewed and selected by the Library staff, and we may edit or delete any comment.)
