It is time to vote for the Teens' Top 10!

The Teens’ Top 10 is the only book award list that is recommended and awarded solely by teens.

Vote during Teen Read Week, October 14-20, 2007. Votes can be placed at vote here. (Remember, you can't place a vote until Teen Read Week.) Also, you can only vote for titles from the booklist, found at Booklist.

Big Read is starting!


You already know about the Big Read Teen Movie Project. (If you don’t know about it, find more info at http://www.homerlibrary.org/2007/09/teen-film-fest-new-information.html.)

There’s also a Big Read Teen Book Discussion, Mystery Night, presentations, movies, etc!

Author Fair --- September 18th!!!

Don't forget about Tuesday's Author Fair! The fair starts at 6 pm and will end around 8:45. We have some exciting Authors coming --- check out http://homerlibrary.org/authorfair.asp for a listing of authors and audio author interviews.

If you're coming, make sure you talk to Patricia Malone. She's the author of The Legend of Lady Ilena and Lady Ilena: Way of the Warrior. You may remember that The Legend of Lady Ilena was a Rebecca Caudill Award Nominee in 2004.

Also, James Martin is coming back! Jame Conroyd Martin is an award-winning author. Teens loved his two Adult Fiction books - Push Not the River and Against a Crimson Sky.

Sign-up for Read for a Lifetime!

Teens! It is time to register for Read for a Lifetime! Read for a lifetime is a reading program for high school students. To participate, teens must register with a school or local library by October 26, 2007. Then, read 4 books from the reading list by April 11, 2008.

Teens who complete the program will receive a certificate of certificate of achievement sign by Secretary of State Jesse White, along with a discount coupon from Read for a Lifetime co-sponsor, Waldenbooks.

Any teen interested in participating can register with the Homer Public Library District by sending their name and grade level to Alexandra Tyle-Annen ( atyle @ homerlibrary.org ).
