Energy 2007 won two awards. The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) has recognized Energy in their Excellence in Library Service to Young Adults Recognition Project. The library will be awarded $250 and the program will be featured in the fifth edition of Excellence in Library Service to Young Adults. Youth Council of the Workforce Investment Board of Will County award Energy an Honorable Mention Certificate.
What is Energy?
Energy is a teen leadership academy. The academy aims to help create youth leaders that will assume leadership roles throughout the community.

Why should you attend?
Not only will you gain skills that can be utilized throughout life but you will have fun doing so! Participation in this academy will look impressive on college applications and resumes.

Heads Up! Reading, a free program focused on literacy and children.
Heads Up! Reading is a national, distance-learning course that will teach participants the tools to enhance reading, writing and thinking skills of young children.
* Heads Up! Reading will be held every Thursday evening*
at the Homer Library and will run from
January 10, 2008 to May 29, 2008.
Participants have the opportunity to receive
CEUs, CPDUs, In-service hours, and/or college credit.

Looking to sharpen your computer skills? The Homer Township Public Library is offering two computer classes during the month of December.
The first is an Introduction to PowerPoint class (for those with very little or no experience with PowerPoint) on Tuesday, December 11 at 6:30 pm (ending between 8:00-8:30 pm).
The second is an Introduction to Computers class (for those with very little or no experience with computers) on Wednesday, December 12 at 10:00 am (ending at 11:00 am).
