Abraham Lincoln in Song -- Tuesday, July 29th at 7pm
Award-winning folksinger Chris Vallillo uses historic narratives, contemporary folk music, and period folk songs to showcase Abraham Lincoln's life spanning the period of great change and growth in Illinois. This program is made possible in part by an award from the Illinois Humanities Council, the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Illinois General Assembly.
Arm Chair Travelers -- Friday, August 8th from 1:30 - 3pm
Watch as Bill Helmuth takes you around the world in 60 minutes! He'll lead you on a tour of 25 coutries where you'll see architectural treasures, shrines, and religious rites and festivals.
Teen Intern Pizza Party -- Tuesday, July 29th at 4:30pm
You made it! Celebrate the end of the Teen Intern Program with pizza and new friends! You'll receive a certificate showing the hours you've worked (if you need a letter, tell Heather and you can get that, too!) Please RSVP to Heather by July 28th by calling (708) 301-7908 or emailing

Teen Book Club -- Tuesday, August 5th at 7pm
Join us as we discuss Scott Westerfeld's "Uglies" and talk about the other books we've been reading. For teens in 6th grade and up. New members are welcome!
GrandPal & Knit -- Friday, August 1st at 10am
Kids ages 8-12 will learn to cast on, knit, purl, and decrease steps while they knit a simple project with Victorian Village residents. One skein of sport weight 4-ply yarn is needed for the first class. Classes meet on Fridays from 10-11:30am on July 11th, July 18th, July 25th, and August 1st. Used Book Sale -- Accepting Donations as of August 1st
Beginning August 1st, the library will be accepting book donations for our first ever Used Book Sale, to be held on August 15th and 16th! If you have gently used books that you would like to donate to this event, please drop them off at the library during open hours. We will be accepting all donations except National Geographic magazine, encyclopedias published before 2003, and items in poor condition. Thank you for your help in making this event a success!

There'll be anime jeopardy, pizza, and more! The cosplay party will last longer than our regular manga meetings and will end at 8:45 pm. Open to teens in 6th grade and up.

You can register at the library, but please call ahead (708-301-7908) to make sure a registrar is in the building. You'll need to bring two forms of ID: one with your name and current address, the second with your name. You can also register by filling out a mail-in application found
here. But remember, the last day to register to vote in the November election is October 7, so don't wait! Voters who are registered in Will County but need an absentee ballot can obtain one by filling out

Used Book Sale
The Homer Library's Used Book Sale is almost here! The sale will be held on Friday, August 15th from 9am-4:30pm, and on Saturday, August 16th from 9am-3pm. Any items that are not sold at the sale will be given away for free on Monday, August 18th from 10am-4pm. We hope to see you there!

Library Closed July 4th & 5th

In observance of the 4th of July, the library will be closed on Friday, July 4th and Saturday, July 5th. We will reopen Monday morning at 8:30 am.
Also, please note that the library is not open on Sundays from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
