* Library Closed September 1st

In observance of the Labor Day, the library will be closed on Monday, September 1st.

When the library is closed, you can still:
+ chat online with a librarian through our ASKAWAY service
+ use our library databases
+ search our catalog.

Also, please note that the library will resume our Sunday hours (from 4-8pm) as of Sunday, September 7th!

Join us as we discuss Elise Juska's "The Hazards of Sleeping Alone." New members are welcome!

TEENS

YAC Meeting -- Wednesday, August 27th at 4:30pm
We'll be discussing volunteering for the first annual Homer Harvest Days and planning other upcoming activities for YAC members. For teens in 6th grade and up.

Teen Book Club -- Tuesday, September 2nd at 7pm
Join us as we discuss Maureen Johnson's "13 Little Blue Envelopes" and any other books you've been reading! For teens in 6th grade and up.

Fall 2008 Library Newsletter
The library's Fall 2008 newsletter can be seen by clicking here! The sign-up for all Fall programming begins on Monday, September 15th at 8:30am.

Help Us Support Our Troops!
In partnership with the Lockport American Legion, the library is asking for donations of gently used DVDs to be sent to the troops in Iraq. At this time, we are only accepting DVDs. Thank you for your help with this project!

You've read the final book in the Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series -- so let's talk about it! We want to know if you loved Breaking Dawn or hated it! For teens in 6th grade and up. To register, call (708) 301-7908 or email Heather at hcolby@homerlibrary.org.

Teen Manga Group -- Thursday, August 21st at 7pm
We're having a manga swap, so bring any old manga that you'd like to trade! For teens in 6th grade and up.

Fall Program Sign-Up -- Monday, September 15th at 8:30am
The first day of sign-up for the library's Fall programs is on September 15th at 8:30am. Detailed information about the programs will be in our newsletter, which will be available in the September 11th issue of the Homer Horizon and also at the library. We hope to see you at the library this Fall!

We would like to thank everyone who came out to the library's first Used Book Sale this past weekend! The event was a great success, and we couldn't have done it without the patrons who donated books over the past few months, our many wonderful teen volunteers who helped organize the materials, and the patrons who purchased all of those books! Thank you all!

* Used Book Sale

The Homer Township Public Library's first Used Book Sale is almost here! The sale will be held on Friday, August 15th from 9:30am-4:30pm and Saturday, August 16th from 9:30am-3pm. Any items that are not sold at the sale will be given away for free on Monday, August 18th from 10-4pm.

We will be selling books of all kinds, from childrens books to adult non-fiction and everything in between. Hardcover items will be sold for 50 cents each, while paperback items will be sold for 25 cents each. We will be adding to the selection throughout the sale, so feel free to stop by at any time! We hope to see you there!
