More InfoADULTS & SENIORSIntroduction to Word -- Tuesday, October 28th from 7-8pm
Participants will be introduced to a few of the basic functions of Microsoft Word 2003. You will be shown how to create, modify, and print a document. Handouts with additional exercises will be given for home use. This class is free, but space is limited and registration is required. Registration begins at 6:00 pm on the day of the class, and must be done in person at the circulation desk.
TEENS Teen Book Club -- Tuesday, October 28th at 8pm
We'll be discussing "Sweethearts" by Sara Zarr and any other books we've read this month. New members are welcome!
Halloween YAC Meeting -- Thursday, October 30th at 7pm
The October meeting of the YAC group has been changed from its regular date (the fourth Wednesday of the month) to Thursday, October 30th at 7pm for our special Halloween party! We'll learn about the haunted sites in our area, eat pizza and candy, and vote for best costume (that's right -- we want a sneak preview of your Halloween costume!). All YAC members (or those interested in joining YACs!) are welcome, and you can bring a friends, too! Open to teens in 6th grade and up.
Teen Craft: Softies -- Wednesday, November 5th at 6:30pm
The Japanese craze for plush dolls has hit Homer Glen! Make your own softies with felt and thread. We'll be sewing our dolls by hand! Open to teens in 6th grade and up.
No Boys Allowed -- Friday, November 7th from 6-8pm
Girls ages 5 - 10 will enjoy a story, craft, and pampering. Wearing your favorite pj's and come ready to relax and have fun! Registration is required.

Bring your yarns and needles and join the library's monthly knitting club! Meet other knitters and view each other's projects. The group meets on the third Tuesday of every month.

Join us as we discuss "Remember Me" by Sophie Kinsella. New members are welcome!

Calling all kids in grades 2-5! Travel to faraway lands and explore foods and customs from other countries around the world. Next stop: Italy! The Culture Club will also meet on November 22 (Turkey). Space is limited and registration is required.
DVDs For the Troops!
In partnership with the Lockport American Legion, the library is still accepting new and gently used DVD movie donations to send to our troops. Thank you for your support of this project!

Author Fair at the Homer Library!

Celebrate reading and writing at the Homer Township Public Library's 2008 Author Fair! The third annual Author Fair, which is sponsored by the Friends of the Library, will be held on
Monday, October 20th from 6:30 - 8:45pm. The fair offers readers a unique opportunity to meet local authors of books in varying genres such as mystery, historical fiction, nonfiction, childrens, and more. Authors will be giving short presentations on their experiences, inspirations, and writings. Also, stop by an author's table for individual discussion and book signings!
The authors to be showcased at the 2008 Author Fair include L. Sue Dirkin, George N. Kulles, Helen Macie Osterman, Sherry Scarpaci, Daniel P. Smith, Travis Thrasher, and Rita Woods. Authors of childrens' books will also be in attendance, including Kevin Franz, Kevin Luthardt, and Janet Riehecky. Visit the library to check out the authors' books before the event!

The 2nd annual Boo!mobile Halloween Costume contest will run from October 20th through November 1st! Prizes will be awarded for best, funniest, most original, and scariest costumes. Photos of all contestants will be posted at

Visit the Boo!mobile at the Homer Township Halloween Party at Schilling School on October 25th from 11-2pm. Have your picture taken with Mr. Bones and pick up a sweet treat!

Polish Story Time -- Thursdays from 1:15 to 2:30pm

MORE INFOLSTA Grant Awarded to the Homer LibraryThe Homer Library was recently awarded a LSTA grant award entitled "Destination Station: A Learning R/evoluntion @ Homer Library."
