* Go Red Girls Night Out on Feb. 5th @ 6:30pm

There's still time to register for the Go Red Girls Night Out program. Please call the library to register.
Share a night out with your girlfriends- all for a good cause! The event will feature a panel of women's health experts from Loyola University Health System along with healthy, yet delectable snacks, massages, raffle prizes, giveaways and more! Go Red for Women is a national movement designed to educated women about their #1 killer- heart disease- and encourage them to take charge of their health and live stronger, healthier lives. Registration is required as seating is limited.

Chick Lit Book Discussion -- Tuesday, January 27th at 7pm
Join us as we discuss The Next Thing On My List by Jill Smolinski. Books are available at the library for check out, and new members are welcome!

Senior Tax Assistance -- Wednesday, February 4th from 9am-12pm
The Senior Services Center of Will County will be providing free tax services at the library. Walk-in basis only, with no appointment necessary. Can't make it? Senior Tax Assistance days will also be held on February 18th, March 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th, April 1st, and 15th.

Go Red Girls Night Out -- Thursday, February 5th at 7pm
Take a break from your daily routine and enjoy a relaxing night of health education, appetizers, raffle prizes, massages, and fun with a panel of womens health experts from Loyola University Medical Center.

YAC Meeting -- Wednesday, January 28th at 4:30pm
We'll be celebrating the Chinese New Year by eating delicious food and making a craft! Open to teens in 6th grade and up.

Teen Book Discussion -- Tuesday, February 3rd at 7pm
Join us as we discuss Now You See Her by Jacquelyn Mitchard and talk about any other books that we've been reading! Open to teens in 6th grade and up.

Teen Techies -- Wednesday, February 4th at 7pm
We’ll be making screencasts of both OpenOffice and Microsoft Office to add to our future learning page. New members are welcome! Please note that we’ve changed the meeting times back to 7 pm.


American Girl: Kirsten -- Saturday, January 31st at 10am
Join us as we learn about Kirsten, her family, and the time when thousands of pioneers headed to the Oregon and California territories to mine for gold! Open to children ages 7 - 11. Bring your American Girl doll! Registration is required.


Prairiesmoke Writers Workshops
February marks the beginning of the library's restructured writers group! The Prairiesmoke Writers Group will now be writing workshops led by different published authors. Travis Thrasher, author of such books as Isolation and Out of the Devil's Mouth, will be leading the group on Wednesday, February 11th and Wednesday, March 11th (both sessions begin at 7pm). Travis will share his writing tips and techniques and then answer any questions the group may have. Attendees are then encouraged to share their own work with the group! Writers of all levels are encouraged to attend. Registration is not required. We hope to see you there!

* Library Closed / No Bookmobile Service: Monday, January 19th

The library will be closed on Monday, January 19th in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. day. Bookmobile service will also be suspended for the day. We will reopen on Tuesday morning at 8:30 am.

Prairiesmoke Writers Group -- Special Note: Date Change
The next Prairiesmoke meeting is on Wednesday, February 11th at 7pm. Stop by the monthly meeting of the library's writers group to discuss your work with other writers. New members are welcome!

Mystery Book Club -- Monday, January 12th at 7pm
Join us as we discuss The Eye of Jade by Diane Wei Liang and eat delicious snacks! Books are available at the library for check out, and new members are always welcome.

Knitting Group -- Tuesday, January 20th at 7pm
Bring your yarns and needles and join the library's monthly knitting club! Meet other knitters and view each other's projects. The group meets on the third Tuesday of every month.

Adult Book Discussion -- Wednesday, January 21st at 7:30pm
Join us as we discuss Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. New members are welcome!

TEENS

Teen Manga Group -- Thursday, January 15th at 7pm
We'll be talking about any manga that we've read and discussing ideas for future meetings. Open to teens in 6th grade and up.

Friends of the Library Meeting -- Thursday, January 8th at 7pm
All Friends of the Library (or those interested in becoming a Friend!) are invited to the monthly Friends meeting at the library. We'll be discussing future projects and fundraising ideas, and we'd love to hear your input!

Armchair Travelers: India -- Friday, January 9th from 1:30 - 3pm
Bill Helmuth will share his photographs and experiences from his year spent travelling through India. Learn about the customs and people in cities such as Calcutta, New Delhi, and Mumbai. Light refreshments will be served.

Program Sign-Up
The first day of sign-up for the library's winter programs is on January 12th at 8:30am for in-house registration and at 12pm for phone registration. Detailed information about the programs is in our newsletter, which is available at the library or by clicking here. We hope to see you at the library this winter!
