Cornerstone Career Solutions help individuals with disabilities reach their highest potential in their chosen career field. Each person receives individualized training and services that are designed to meet his/her particular career needs and choices. Cornerstone Career Solutions serves individuals of all disability populations with a wide range of functional skills and abilities.
TEENSTeen Manga Group -- Tuesday, July 28th at 7pm
Come on down to the library for the next TMG meeting, where we'll be making plans for our August cosplay party! Open to teens in 6th grade & up.
YAC Bowling Party -- Thursday, July 30th at 4pm at Orland BowlTeens from the Homer Library will be bowling against teens from the Orland Park, Frankfort, and Tinley Park libraries for a trophy! The cost is $5 per teen, which includes 3 games of bowling, shoe rental, unlimited cheese pizza, and soda! Space is limited to 20, so registration is required. Teens do not have to be members of the Youth Activity Committee to bowl! Participants must provide their own transportation. Library staff will be in attendance. Teen Book Discussion -- Tuesday, August 4th at 7pmIt's reader's choice again at the Teen Book Club! Teens can choose to read
How to Be Bad by Lauren Myracle, E. Lockhart, and Sarah Mlynowski or
The Blue Girl by Charles de Lint (or both!). Both books are available at the library for check out. Open to teens in 6th grade and up.
DIY Room Decorations -- Wednesday, July 5th at 7pmDecorate your room with veggies and newspaper! Make a unique veggie patterned pillowcase and newspaper flowers to add some style to your personal space. Participants must bring their own white or light colored pillowcase. All other supplies will be provided. For teens in 6th grade & up. Registration suggested.
KIDSLego Time -- Tuesday, July 28th at 4:30pm
Build your own Lego design to display in the library! All ages are welcome to participate. Legos will be provided.
Cold Blooded Creatures -- Wednesday, July 29th at 1:30pm at Culver ParkDo you have the guts to touch a real live alligator or snake? Jim Nesci is bringing his show to Culver Park! Jim employs a hands-on approach to deliver information about reptiles, their native habitat, their individual personalities, their eating habits, and conservation of the animals. This program is free!
MORE INFOUsed Book Sale: Donations and Sale HoursThe library is now accepting donations for our Used Book Sale! Due to space constraints, we are asking that patrons drop off donations on the following days only: Friday, July 24th through Wednesday, August 5th. We will be accepting gently used books, although we cannot take encyclopedias over 5 years old, items in poor condition, magazines, or textbooks.
As for the sale itself, the public is invited to purchase paperbacks for 25 cents and hardcovers for 50 cents on Friday, August 7th from 9am - 4:30pm and Saturday, August 8th from 9am - 3pm. On Monday, August 10th from 9am - 8pm, patrons can fill a library bag for $5.00 ("green" bags are included in the cost.) On Tuesday, August 11th and Wednesday, August 12th from 9am - 8pm, items will be available at a special offer of buy 1 get 2 free!
Friends of the Homer Library are invited to a special Friends pre-sale on Thursday, August 6th from 5 - 8pm. Not a friend? It's easy to become one! Sign up at the circulation desk -- just show your library card! There is a $5 fee for an individual membership, or a $7 fee for a family membership. Thank you to everyone who participated in this year's Summer Reading Program! The program ended on July 25th and winning tickets were pulled on July 27th. Congratulations to those who won prizes! For the teens who participated in the Teen Intern Program, please let Heather know if you need a letter stating your hours. Thank you for volunteering at the library this summer!

Our Brand New Teen Section!
The Homer Library is excited to announce the beginning stages of our new Teen Section have begun! The YA books have been moved from the children's room to the area behind the Help Desk (which previously held our reference collection, which we've shifted over a few aisles). Just today we've added new chairs to the area, and there is more to come! Have suggestions for us about the Teen Section? Let us know!

Trivia Game Night -- Wednesday, July 22nd at 7pm
Join us for a fun night of trivia at the Homer Library! Teens in grades 6 and up are invited to take part in the trivia game night.
Teen Advisory Board Meeting -- Thursday, July 23rd at 7pm
Teens in 9-12 grades are invited to join the Homer Library's new Teen Advisory Board! Members will have the opportunity to influence the Homer Library's teen services. TAB will meet once a month to discuss books, programming, and other library topics. Members will receive volunteer hours for attending TAB meetings.

Polish-speaking kids ages 6-10 are cordially invited to a posh soiree (a fancy name for "fancy party"). Put on your fancy duds and join us for fun and crafts! Posh refreshments will be served. Registration is required; to register call (708) 301-7908.

Last Week of Summer Reading!
This week marks the final week of the Summer Reading Program. You can stop in any time this week, including Saturday, to log your minutes. Readers who have reached their goal will receive a bonus ticket for the grand prizes! Winning tickets will be pulled on Monday. Join us for a fun night of comedy with this Western Springs-based group. If you're a fan of the TV show "Whose Line Is It Anyway," you'll love this program of short improvisational skits based on suggestions from the audience. Show is rated PG.
Teen Movie Night -- Thursday, July 16th at 7pm

Learn basic first aid, how to plan and prepare for babysitting jobs, change diapers and much more! For kids ages 10 and up. Registration at the circulation desk is required as space is limited, and there is a $20 fee per participant.

Teen Craft Supplies
The Homer Library will be holding various teen craft workshops within the coming months and we are asking for patron donations of craft supplies! We will be using the following items: altoid tins, glue, magnets, beads/jewelry supplies, capri-suns/juice boxes, sewing supplies, empty CD cases, modpodge, inkpads, canvas and paint (for canvas). If you have any of these items and are willing to donate them to the library, please drop them off at any time. Thank you for your support of our teen programming!
