We'll be discussing ideas for next year's Energy program and creating artwork to hang in our teen section! Members will receive volunteer hours for attending TAB meetings.
KIDSUpcoming! Halloween Costume SwapThe Homer Library is hosting our first Halloween Costume Swap on Thursday, October 8th from 3:30 - 7pm! Costumes and accessories are now being accepted through October 7th. For every gently-used costume you donate, you will receive a ticket to shop the Costume Swap. here!MORE INFOFall Newsletter & Program Sign-UpThe Fall newsletter has arrived! Inside you will find information on the upcoming programs at the library and on the bookmobile. Copies of the newsletter are available at the library and bookmobile, and will also be included in the September 10th edition of the Homer Horizon. But you can also click
here to read it from home! In-person registration for all programs begins on Monday, September 14th at 8:30 am, and telephone registration begins at noon on that same day. We hope to see you and your family at a program soon!
eBooks for KidsSylvan Dell has awarded the Homer Township Public Library a Resource Grant for their children's eBooks! These eBooks have Auto-Flip, Auto-Read, and selectable English and Spanish text and audio features. Patrons of the Homer Library can access these free eBooks by clicking
here and entering the library's site code (which you can get by calling the library at 708-301-7908). Also on the website are resources for teachers and parents that correspond with each eBook. We encourage you to take advantage of this fantastic service!

Used Book Sale: Update!The library's second annual Used Book Sale was a great success! We would like to thank those who donated books for helping make this event happen. Also, manys thanks go out to our wonderful teen volunteers who helped sort and organize books and assisted with the sale itself. We hope those who purchased items found some awesome books! The Homer Library truly appreciates the support of everyone involved in this event!

DIY Room Decorations -- Wednesday, August 5th at 7pmDecorate your room with veggies and newspaper! Make a unique veggie patterned pillowcase and newspaper flowers to add some style to your personal space. Participants must bring their own white or light colored pillowcase. All other supplies will be provided. For teens in 6th grade & up. Registration suggested.

here!MORE INFONew Database: Illinois Public RecordsThe library has added another database to our reference collection! We now offer access to Illinois Public Records provided by Record Information Services. Scroll through Chicagoland’s public records: real estate transactions, mortgages, foreclosures, and more. Keep an eye on housing values in the community and help safeguard your biggest investment - your home. Sort by name, city, zip code, and more. Record Information Services is a 17 year old data compiler of public records serving the Chicagoland area. This database is currently available for in-library use only, but we hope to soon provide off-site access to it as well. So feel free to log on to it the next time you're in the library!
Used Book Sale: Donations and Sale Hours
The library is now accepting donations for our Used Book Sale! Due to space constraints, we are asking that patrons drop off donations on the following days only: Friday, July 24th through Wednesday, August 5th. We will be accepting gently used books, although we cannot take encyclopedias over 5 years old, items in poor condition, magazines, or textbooks.
As for the sale itself, the public is invited to purchase paperbacks for 25 cents and hardcovers for 50 cents on Friday, August 7th from 9am - 4:30pm and Saturday, August 8th from 9am - 3pm. On Monday, August 10th from 9am - 8pm, patrons can fill a library bag for $5.00 ("green" bags are included in the cost.) On Tuesday, August 11th and Wednesday, August 12th from 9am - 8pm, items will be available at a special offer of buy 1 get 2 free!
Friends of the Homer Library are invited to a special Friends pre-sale on Thursday, August 6th from 5 - 8pm. Not a friend? It's easy to become one! Sign up at the circulation desk -- just show your library card! There is a $5 fee for an individual membership, or a $7 fee for a family membership.
