Teen Book Club: The Compound

We'll be discussing The Compound by S.A. Bodeen at our next Teen Book Club meeting on Tuesday, October 6th at 7pm! With a nuclear bomb heading their way, Eli and his family retreat into an underground compound to live for 15 years. But as the years pass, Eli becomes suspicious of his father, which leads him to wonder: who has been sabotaging the compound, and what is really left outside in the real world? Books are available at the library, and new members are welcome! For teens in 6th grade and up.

Teen Open House: Wed, Sept. 30th!

We are putting the finishing touches on our new Teen Area, and so we're throwing a party to celebrate! The Teen Open House, for teens in 6th grade and up, will be held on Wednesday, September 30th from 5 - 8pm. Activities including raffles, gaming, and a photo scavenger hunt will be held throughout the night, so stay the whole night or drop-in at any time!

We'll also be having a food fear factor contest (with a signed parental consent form/waiver) -- we encourage those with food allergies to take their allergies into consideration before choosing to participate, although if you decide to participate and have food allergies, please turn in your signed consent form/waiver by September 23rd so that we may accommodate you.

Hungry teens can decorate their own sweet treats from 5-6pm and indulge in pizza at 7pm while listening to the songs of local teen band Carnival Heist. For a full schedule of events, and a copy of the Fear Factor consent form, click here! Have questions? Call Heather or Alex at (708) 301-7908!

Teen Manga Group

The next meeting of the Teen Manga Group is on Thursday, September 17th at 7pm. The TMG is now a member of Operation Anime (www.operationanime.com), so we'll be watching some anime and eating popcorn! Open to teens in 6th grade and up.

All projects not finished by 5:30pm can be taken home or completed at the next teen craft day. Bring your friends & get crafty! For teens in 6th grade and up.

Upcoming crafts include: juice box purses (October 15th), cell phone charms (October 21st), and paper bead jewelry (November 10th). Have any suggestions for other crafts you'd like to do at the library? Let us know!
