This award-winning academy aims to help create youth leaders who will assume leadership roles throughout the community. Teens will commit to attending three library programs (on topics such as college preparation and communication skills) and fulfill a service requirement at the library. Participation in this academy will look impressive on college applications and resumes, and it's also fun! Energy teens will also get priority regarding summer volunteer hours. Energy is open to teens in grades 9-12. Applicants do not have to be residents of Homer Township. This award-winning academy aims to help create youth leaders who will assume leadership roles throughout the community. Participation in this academy will look impressive on college applications and resumes, and it's also fun! Energy is open to teens in grades 9-12. Applicants do not have to be residents of Homer Township. The library has added various Early Literacy Play areas that will serve to stimulate a child's intellectual and social development. These areas prepare children for structures formal learning and school activities. The play areas include a cabin play house, a community train table, a doll house, a Lego creation table, new puzzles, and more! The Early Literacy Play items were provided through a generous private donation. We hope you'll stop by the library to explore these areas with your children! &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Energy 2010: A Teen Leadership Academy&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Applications will be available by the end of the week for next year's session of Energy: A Teen Leadership Academy! Energy, which is an award winning library program, aims to create youth leaders who will assume leadership roles throughout the community. Participants attend library programs on teen-centered issues and also take part in a volunteer opportunity through the library. Energy is open to teens in grades 9-12. It's a great addition to any resume or college application! Users can also find career information and practice tests for a variety of occupations. The Coin Career Library database offers a simple resumer builder and information such as average Illinois salaries and occupational outlooks. Prizes will be awarded for the best, funniest, scariest, and most original costumes!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Author Fair -- Monday, October 19th at 7pm&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Families are invited to this year's Author Fair to meet children's authors Lisa Mallen (&lt;em&gt;Elton the&lt;/em&gt; &lt;em&gt;Elf&lt;/em&gt;), Carolyn Crimi (&lt;em&gt;Where's My Mummy?&lt;/em&gt;), and Sheila Welch (&lt;em&gt;A Horse for All Seasons&lt;/em&gt;). Authors will be giving short presentations on their works, and they'll also be available to chat at their individual tables throughout the night. Kids are invited to make a ghost or witch craft. There is a $3 fee per child, and kids younger than 6 will need assistance from their parent or guardian.
