Lost cards

You are responsible for your own card and for all materials borrowed on it. Please contact us immediately if your card has been lost, misplaced, or stolen. Also inform us immediately when you change your address, telephone, or name.

You will be charged $2.00 to replace a lost library card.

Non-resident library cards

If you live outside Homer Township, in an area not served by or closer to another library, you may purchase a card for your family.

If you own property in Homer Township but live elsewhere, please present your current tax bill as identification for a free library card.

Circulation (borrowing) periods

Most items may be checked out for a three-week period. New items in "High Demand" may be borrowed for two weeks. Many items may be renewed one time if there are no holds placed by other cardholders.

VHS may be checked out for two weeks and renewed once. DVDs may be checked out for one week. There are no renewals on DVDs. There is no limit on the total number of items you may borrow, but we may place limits on the number of items you're allowed to check out on the same subject. DVDs and music CDs are limited to 5 of each item type per patron card.

Items owned by other libraries (including interlibrary loans arranged by us) may have different loan periods.

Renewals and returns

Items can usually be renewed by phone (708-301-7908) when we're open, or through our catalog at any time. You may also contact us by AOL Instant Messenger or email to ask for a renewal. Some items may not be eligible to be renewed.

Outside bookdrops are available for returns around the clock. Items may also be returned to the Circulation Desk when we're open.

Lost or damaged items

Lost or damaged items are billed to you at the price of each item plus a processing fee.

Unattended children

Children aged nine and under must be accompanied by an adult or teenager of at least 14 years of age. You must stay in the building while your children attend story hours and other programs. See our Safe Child Policy.
