Catalog Search Bookmarklet

A bookmarklet is a small computer program which is added to your Web broswer as a Bookmark or Favorites link.

This bookmarklet searches our catalog for a word or phrase that you've highlighted on a Web page.

To add the bookmarklet to your browser

Internet Explorer

Right-click on the "Homer Library Catalog Search" link below, and select Add to Favorites. (Ignore any warning your computer gives about it possibly being harmful.)

To use the bookmarklet

(Note: For the bookmarklet to work, your browser needs to have JavaScript enabled.)

Highlight a word or phrase on a Web page, then select the bookmarklet from your Favorites.

    1. Highlight a word or phrase you see on a Web page with your mouse.

    2. Open the Favorites, Links or Bookmarks menu on your browser's toolbar and click on Homer Library Catalog Search. If you have nothing highlighted, a window for entering search words will appear.

    3. The bookmarklet will search our catalog for the word or phrase you highlighted or entered.

    4. If you see an item you want and have a Homer Township library card, you may click the "Place Hold" link in the catalog to request the book. You'll need to enter your library card barcode number (without spaces) and your PIN (your default PIN is the last 4 digits of your barcode number). We'll contact you when the book is available to pick up at the front desk.
