Teen Book Club: Uglies by Scott Westerfeld

Do you love to read? So you love to talk about good books with other teens? Then the Homer Library's TEEN BOOK CLUB is for you!

The Teen Book Club meets at the library on the first Tuesday of every month at 7pm. We discuss the monthly book selection (copies are available at the Help Desk on a display), talk about any other books -- good or bad! -- we've been reading since our last meeting, & eat yummy snacks!

The Teen Book Club is always looking for new members! Teens in 6th grade & up are invited to join. We're a friendly group & we'd love for you to be a part of the fun!

Our next meeting is Tuesday, August 5th at 7pm. We'll be discussing Uglies by Scott Westerfeld (click here to read a review of Uglies on www.teenreads.com!) & eating pizza! Hope to see you there!

Teen Manga Group's Summer Cosplay Party!

Stop by the Homer Library on Thursday, July 24th at 7 pm for the Teen Manga Group's summer cosplay party! Come dressed in your finest cosplay costume or manga-inspired outfit! There'll be anime jeopardy, pizza, and more! The cosplay party will last longer than our regular manga meetings and will end at 8:45 pm. Open to teens in 6th grade and up.

Rock Band!

Join us for our weekly teen gaming session on Wednesday, July 2nd from 6:30-8pm. We'll be playing Rock Band on the big screen, so bring your friends & be prepared to rock out!

Twilight Party

We're planning a Twilight Party for July 31st and a Breaking Dawn book discussion for August 20.

We have a few exciting activities planned for the Twilight Party.

Rock Band & Wii Sports!

Stop by the library Wed. June 19th from 6:30-8 pm for our weekly teen gaming. We'll be playing Rock Band on the big screen and Wii sports on the TV.

We'll be voting on which games to play for upcoming gaming events.

The June meeting of the Teen Manga Group is on Tuesday, June 17th at 7 pm. Discuss your favorite manga with other teens, and hear details about next month's cosplay party! For teens in 6th grade and up. New members are welcome!

Haunted Illinois

Be prepared to get spooked! You'll learn about the mysterious and ghostly history of Illinois and discover the most haunted sites in our area! Presented by Troy Taylor, author of Haunted Illinois, Weird Illinois, and many more!

Teen Intern Orientation Meetings

Orientation meetings for the Teen Intern Program are this week! Meetings are scheduled for:

Tuesday, June 3rd at 4:30 pm and 6:30 pm

Wednesday, June 4th at 4:30 pm and 6:30 pm.

Teens only have to attend one of the four meetings. The meetings should be short (about 20 minutes or so), and we'll be discussing teens' schedules and duties. We recommend that every teen who has applied for the program attend an orientation meeting; if you can't make it, however, please contact Heather at (708) 301-7908 or hcolby@homerlibrary.org.
