Join us for a special night as award winning author Rita Woods shares her knowledge and experience of book writing and publishing!

Rita Woods has served as a mentor for AWP’s writing program and as a mentor for Cinnamon Girls, an organization dedicated to encouraging creative writing in high school girls of color. She currently serves on the Board of Trustees on the Homer Township Public Library's board and is the Medical Director at a State Prison. She lives with her family and an ever-changing number of cats in the southern suburbs of Chicago. She loves coffee, history, magic and travel (favorite places to visit are cemeteries), not necessarily in that order.

REMEMBRANCE: Winner of the SIBA (Southern Independent Book Association) Award, AALBC (African American Literary Book Club) Award for Fiction, Hurston-Wright Literary Award for fiction 2020. Was a Book Riot, Vogue and Essence pick for 2020 among others.

THE LAST DREAMWALKER: Winner of the Midlands Authors Award 2022, Nominee for the 2022 Hurston-Wright Literary Award for Fiction 2022.
